Agnes Monica

Agnes Monica, who was born 1 July 1986,is an Indonesian pop singer, dancer, and actress. She finished her elementary school in 4 years. She started her career at the age of 6 when she became a host of a children TV show and she also became a singer then. As a child singer she released three albums. When she was 15 she played in Pernikahan Dini drama series and became the most highly paid actress in Indonesia for that time.
Her album “And the story goes”, which was released in 2003,made her popular as a teenage singer . She also played in a TV drama series. She was starring in “Cewekku Jutek” in 2003 and the next year ,she starred in several drama series such as Bunga Perawan and Cantik.One year later, she released her album “Whaddup..A?!” and made a collaboration with US singer Keith Martin. In 2006 she was involved to shooting the drama The Hospital in Taiwan with Jerry Yan and she also acted in the White House drama romance although she only appeared in some episode. At the end of the year she had her first concert in Malaysia .She has composed and written her own songs but it was not enough for her so she produced her latest album. In 208 she released a mini album ‘NEZ’ which has sold more than 100.000 copies. The next year she released Sacredly Agneezious in two versions
She has received a lots of awards in her life. When she was 15 she earned four awards in Panasonic Awards 2002 because of her performance in Pernikahan Dini .She was a nominee in MTV Asia Awards 2004,she became the youngest artist of all nominees in Asia that year. In the last 5 years she has received more than fifty awards.
She took a one year break from studying at Pelita Harapan University, but then, in 2009,she was dropped out. She is now taking a Political Science major at Oregon University by online.
She’s never been in a serious relationship with guy. She used to dating with a Japanese guy and close with Rezky Aditya but she’s now declare herself as a single.She has no idea at what age she should marry because she’s already 24th now.
Agnes has conducted fundraising activities since 2004 when there was a Tsunami in Aceh. In 2009,she went to Situ Gintung and helped the victims by singing her song for them. She has chosen to be the spoke person and main star in MTV EXIT Indonesian Concert 2010.Agnes’s got a lots of activities for now, for the example,being one of the Indonesian Idol’s jury .

Afgan

Afgansyah Reza or better known by Afgan, is an Indonesian singer and actor. The most phenomenal Indonesian male soloist in the last decade was born in Jakarta, May 27, 1989. He is the second of four children by an anesthesiologist and pediatrician, Loyd Yahya and Lola Purnama. Afgan’s oldest sister, Dhery, was born in Bandung, whereas his other siblings, Dhika and Arsya were born in Jakarta, as well as him. He graduated from SMA 34 Jakarta in 2006 and went to University of Indonesia to take his Bachelor of Economics there. He grew up in a lovely family who loves music. In his early stage, his debut career as a singer was started when he went to WannaB Instant Recording Studio with his friends to record their private album. Accidentally, his talent was observed by the WannaB producer who promoted him to the recording label. Not long after that, he released his album in 2008 named Confession No. 1 with the hits like Terima Kasih Cinta, Klise, and Tanpa Batas Waktu that became the top position in MTV chart songs and brought him to the top. Succeeded in his first album, he continued his magic by released a religious album, Pencari Jalanmu in 2009 and the latest, The One in 2010. In his professional career, he has released 3 albums until now. As a new actor, he started his career through the widescreen Bukan Cinta Biasa in May 2009 which was followed by Cinta 2 Hati in May 2010. In additional, he also sang the soundtrack for both films. He has achieved a series of awards from his singing and acting such as The Best Male Singer by Anugerah Musik Indonesia Awards in 2009 and The Best Album by Anugerah Planet Muzik from Malaysia. In 2010, he achieved 3 prestigious award for the category The Best Male Soloist and Most Favorite Male Singer. In 2009, he also nominated in Indonesia Movie Awards in category Best Newcomer Actor. Unfortunately, he didn’t win the award. His romance live is hardly to be exposed. Currently, he is in a relationship with Olivia Jensen Lubis, a 16 year old partner in his movie Cinta 2 Hati. He has been in a relationship with her for about six months. Recently, His activities are preparing his new album beside the usual college routine. He said that he enjoyed his live very much and wanted to develop his career.

Bong-Bong & His Bears

Flying tadpoles used to be the only animals in the world. Bong-Bong was a special one amongst them. One day he lost his Teddy Bear so he cried endlessly but Yogi Bear appeared and after weeks Bong-Bong didn’t cry anymore. His cries can still be heard when it’s quiet though.

The idea of a mini-saga, for those of you who don't know, is to write a story using exactly 50 words, no more, no less. The great thing about it is that you can enjoy a complete story without spending hours reading it!!! In that case, take a few moments out of your time and read these great stories.

Reluctantly Suicidal

Sarimin was depressed and wanted to kill herself with a knife
but she got scared because it was sharp. She wanted to burn herself
but she had no oil and match. Then she was going to drink
baygon before knowing it had bad taste.
In the end she decided not to kill herself.

Growing up

I had played with it a lot when she finally gave it to
my young niece. This broke my heart and
I cried all day, begging her to give it back, but in vain.
I had grown up.

He said, ”Stupid!”. Then he carved a “=16”. When Tommy came back,
he fixed it. It happened repeatedly. Then he stuck a decorative “16”.
When he came back, there was a big carving that said “GOOD!”

City of Heroes

W.S Mallaby died at Jembatan Merah in 1945. He was a famous governor, who ordered to kill all Indonesians in the battle of Surabaya. While crossing the bridge with his army, he was killed by Indonesians. Surabaya then became the City of Heroes because a famous governor died in battle.

My Hometown

As mentioned in my profile, I spent my childhood travelling from one place to another, which is the plight of all “Army Brats” (children of military families), so I can’t really tell you about my “home” town because I wouldn’t know which one it is. Therefore, I’ve decided to tell you about Quebec City, which is where my parents eventually settled after my father retired. It also happens to be the city which is closest to most of my relatives so I suppose it is my hometown.

Quebec City is the capital of the province of Quebec (I know, not very original, is it?), which is the French part of Canada. The city is on the Saint-Lawrence river, and in fact, the word “kebek” means “where the river narrows” in the language of the Algonquians, one of the native tribes of Canada. Quebec is one of the oldest cities in the country and its architectural style, which is very European, is an oddity in a country where cities are usually very modern. This makes it a great touristic attraction and its charming narrow streets and alleys are visited by thousands of people every year, despite the cold winters.

In fact, the city has taken advantage of its reputation for cold temperature by hosting the biggest winter carnival in the world. The Quebec Winter Carnival, which is over 50 years old, takes place in the first two weeks of February. Although this is when the city is usually at its coldest, the event still attracts hundreds of thousands of brave carnival goers every year. People walk and dance along the snowy streets, drinking a local mixture called “caribou” to keep warm. The carnival features all sorts of winter competitions such as a snowshoe race, the crossing of the partially frozen Saint-Lawrence river in huge canoes and a snow sculpture competition which attracts teams from all over the world. The event ends with a bang with fireworks and a fantastic parade of dozens of colourful floats and clowns as well as marching bands from around the world.

Quebec is also a very clean city where people can go for walks and hikes in the many parks and green areas as well as along the many quaint little streets full of interesting boutiques and inviting cafes. It is a truly multicultural city with restaurants and galleries from around the world and a friendly population which is among the most hospitable I have ever met. Although Quebecers are mostly French speaking, most of them speak at least a little English and, just like Indonesians, they are usually eager to practice it with visiting tourists from around the world.

I'm not sure I'm doing this right but this is my attempt at creating a blog which might become a hub for my students' work. What I'd like to see on this blog is many links to all of my students' personal blogs displaying how brilliant they are (hopefully) or simply, how brilliant they think they are (but fail to show).
